Elizabeth A. Cox
Elizabeth Ann Cox, 77, of Scales Mound, IL, died peacefully on August 12 after her battle with cancer.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of 43 years to James Cox; loving mother of Michelle and Michael (Julie); cherished grandmother of James and David; and devoted fur-grandmother to Harley and Lexi. She was the dear sister of Leonard Serrins; sister-in-law of Beverly Winterstein; fond aunt of Duke, Jim, Dave and Bill Winters, and Kristina Winterstein, and cherished great-aunt to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Israel and Ruth Serrins (nee Hemphill); her sisters, Doris and Linda; mother-and father-in-law, Fred and Christine Cox, brother-in-law, Jerome; and her son-in-law, Jason.
Elizabeth spent her childhood in Franklin, Pennsylvania, before moving to Chicago in 1965 at the age of 17. She built a successful career and served as Vice President of Asset Management and Accounting at First National Bank of Chicago.
On June 11, 1983, Elizabeth married James, and together they built a life filled with love, cherished memories, and the companionship of their many beloved fur babies over the years. In 2005, they moved from Chicago to Scales Mound, where she worked at Eagle Ridge Resort and Purrfection Secondhand Store.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 411 W. Catlin St., Elizabeth, IL 61028, with a funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will take place on Friday, August 21, at 12:00 p.m. at the graveside, at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Avenue, Elmhurst, IL.
