Ellen M. Hennenfent

Ellen M. Hennenfent, 86, of Dubuque, died Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Grand Meadows in Asbury.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:15 am on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Church of the Resurrection.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ellen will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.

Ellen was born November 21, 1938, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Leo and Elizabeth (Wilson) Thibaudeau. On April 25, 1964, she married Rex E. Hennenfent at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, WI. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2021.

She graduated from East High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with the Class of 1956 and continued her education by taking courses through the University of Wisconsin, St. Norbert College, and Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta. She also completed the Disney on Management Seminar and the TWA Flight Attendant and Public Relations School.

Ellen worked as a flight attendant with Trans World Airlines for four years before leaving to marry and begin a new chapter in life. She later served as a sales representative for the Catholic Book Division of Brown Publishing Company, covering Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, where she worked for 13 years until her retirement.

She was a creative spirit who found joy in gardening, designing and making greeting cards, walking, and amateur photography. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane Tyrrell of Chicago, IL; one son, Thomas Hennenfent of Dyersville, IA; three siblings, Linda (Don) Ditzman of Green Bay, WI; Janice (Dan) Trial of Ellisville, MO; and Paul (Susan) Thibaudeau of Wauwatosa, WI; former son-in-law, Ian Tyrrell of Pittsfield, MA; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend and caregiver, Diane (David) Eddy of Sherrill, IA.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Bill) Ashby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for The Cradle (Illinois Adoption Agency & Counseling Service), Resurrection Catholic Church, Eagle Pointe Place, or Hospice of Dubuque.

Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Crematory is in care of the arrangements.
