Ellen was born on April 17, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gwendolyn (Kifer) Glasson. She married Donald Guler at Summit Congregational UCC Church in Dubuque.
When Ellen and Don were traveling, they loved visiting their grandchildren in California and Georgia. Ellen loved her many, many years as the Summit Church secretary and overall wearer of multiple hats including playing the piano, singing in the choir, and counting the money. She also volunteered for multiple years at Finley Hospital. At Eagle Point she as known as the Ambassador. She never met a new face she didn’t like. She also was the best at handing out menus for all the residents. You could always find her at the front entry talking with staff, residents, and newcomers. She was a big fan of watching the weather especially in the location of two of her boys (Folsom, CA and Grovetown, GA).
She is survived by her three sons: Doug (Shari) Guler of Folsom, California; Tom (Judy) Guler of Dubuque; and Tony (Leslie) Guler of Grovetown, Georgia. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Logan, Austin, Chloe, and Nathan along with her brother Rick Glasson of Toledo, Ohio
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and husband Donald in 2023.
The family expresses their gratitude to all the dedicated staff at Eagle Point Place, where she lived for seven years. They are also deeply thankful for the exceptional team at Grand Meadows Senior Living. Special appreciation goes to their cousin, Jessica Konrardy, who was the rock star of rock stars through it all; Jessica always knew how to get a chuckle out of Ellen.
In lieu of flowers an Ellen Guler memorial fund will be established.
