Gary J. Boffeli
Gary J. Boffeli, 73, of Dubuque died Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Friday, July 12, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road followed by a memorial service at 6 pm Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Placid. Gary was born March 22, 1951 in Dubuque, son of Merlin and Mary (McDermott) Boffeli. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School, Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served for four years.
Gary worked as a welder for John Deere Dubuque Works, and later worked as a millwright and welder in the construction industry.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and anything with an engine; but most of all, Gary loved his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by three children, Joshua Boffeli of Dubuque, Kate (Jeff) Becker of Madison, WI., and Vanessa Boffeli of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Gus and Daphne Becker; two brothers, Tom (Bernice) Boffeli and David (Lori) Boffeli; five sisters, Marlene (Earl) Guler, Willie (Tom) McDonnell, Helen (Larry) Heyer, Diane (Jim) Kearney and Moe (Mike) Meyer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Boffeli; his parents, Merlin and Mary Boffeli; his sister, Ione Jaynes; two brothers in law, Bill Jaynes and Tom McDonnell and a sister in law, Jane Boffeli.
