Gaynell “Gay” Spitznas, 101, of Dubuque passed away Friday, July 25, 2025 at Assisi Village.

As per her request, there will be no public service.  She will be buried by her husband, Bill, in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F Kennedy Road is in charge of the arrangements.

Gay was born December 25, 1923 in Saragosa, TX, daughter of James and Jimmie (Conger) Duncan.

She married William “Bill” Spitznas on March 22, 1947 in Salina, Kansas.

She was a member of First Congregational UCC and PEO Sisters of Chapter IK.

She is survived by a sister in law, Helen Victor of Wichita, KS, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and a brother, Russell C. Duncan.

Memorials may be given to First Congregational United Church of Christ Church.
