Georgia K. Botsford

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Georgia Kay Botsford, 79, of Dubuque, Iowa, at home on February 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

A wake will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.

Georgia was born in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, to George and Catherine (Wilke) LaMour. She met her husband Marv Botsford while working together at the A&W restaurant and together they’ve shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a family rooted in love, laughter, a lot of hard work and a little mischief.

Georgia was smart and kind and had a quick wit. She was the light in any room and served as a compass for those who knew her best. She knew how to balance work, fun and family and made it look easy, even when it wasn’t. She enjoyed traveling to new places and trying new things, but mostly, she enjoyed being with Marv and the rest of the family.

Georgia worked at Fireside Credit for many years, then discovered her professional passion in the publishing world working for and retiring from Kendall Hunt Publishing. She was proud of her meaningful and creative work and the lifelong friendships she made along the way.

Family was at the center of everything Georgia did. She and Marv were blessed with three children: Jeff (Lisa) Botsford, Jodi (John) Rhomberg, and Joelle Botsford. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren – Anthony (Jessica) Botsford, Travis Botsford, Troy (Bailey) Botsford, Kate (Michael) Tully, Mary (Matt) Lent, Abigail (Drew) Funke, Tyler (Nikki) Botsford, and Kelsey Botsford – and her sixteen great‑grandchildren: Lexi, Niko, Akemi, Georgia, Chase, Phoebe, Kaydence, Amelia, Marshall, Riley, Evan, Skye, Bennett, Tianna, Avree, and Malayah.

She is survived by her sister LaDonna (John) Morson, brothers-in-law Wayne (Judy) Botsford and Donald Botsford and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Benedict William “Billy” LaMour and Emil Jon (Iris) Lamour, and sister-in-law Margaret Botsford.

Georgia will be remembered for her warm heart, sharp sense of humor, bright curiosity, and the joy she brought to every gathering. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and a lasting legacy of kindness and strength.

Even in death, Georgia continued her lifelong commitment of caring for others by choosing to be a tissue donor, a final act of generosity that will touch lives long after her own.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers from Hospice of Dubuque, and her granddaughter Mary, who’s vigilant, tender care ensured she rested comfortably and without pain.

In lieu of flowers, a Georgie Botsford Memorial Fund has been established.
