Gerald A. Wiederholt

Gerald “Jerry” A. Wiederholt, 87, of Dubuque, died Monday, March 9, 2026, at home.Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 16, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Steven Rosonke as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.

Gerald was born October 25, 1938, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Francis and Margaret (Ludwig) Wiederholt. On September 2, 1961, he married Carolyn “Sue” Kramer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

Jerry was a proud graduate of Loras Academy and dedicated 40 years of hard work on the block line at John Deere Dubuque Works. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, especially Fords, was an active member of local car clubs, and enjoyed driving in Memorial Day and Labor Day parades. He was a lifelong bowler, a member of the PBA, and was inducted into the Dubuque Bowling Hall of Fame. He took pride in achieving the first 800 series in Dubuque. Jerry also loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and taking family trips to Northern Wisconsin. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and took great joy in attending their activities.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn “Sue”; four children, Dale Wiederholt of Dubuque, Brad (Diane) Wiederholt of Davenport, IA, Glen (Hasina) Wiederholt of Leesburg, VA, and Laura Schieltz of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Caitlyn, Danielle (Troy), Allyson, Zach (Meg), Meredith,  Aaron, and Emma; five great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Gage, Jude, Madison, and Julia; and sisters-in-law, Donna C. Wiederholt, Sharon Kramer, Barb Kramer, and Bev Kramer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert Wiederholt, Floyd (Mary) Wiederholt, and Donald (Delores) Wiederholt, and in-laws, Kenny (Rosie) Kramer, Eleanor (Ernie) Phillips, Florence (John) Billings, Evelyn (George) Balon, Jerry Kramer, Dick Kramer, Gene Kramer, Jim Kramer, and Roger Kramer.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. Whalen and the team at Tri-State Dialysis, as well as Dr. Kumor and Dr. Khan.
