Gwen Blakeman, 91, of Dubuque, died Friday, April 4, 2025, at the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center in Dubuque.

There will be no visitation or services.

Gwendolyn was born June 7, 1933, in Dubuque, the daughter of Kai and Kathryn (Noehl) Sommers

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish – Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, loved nature and animals, and cherished time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Blakeman and Kristine Blakeman both of Dubuque; one son, Kent (Sarah) Blakeman of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Brian Koster, Amy Koster, Anthony Williams, Carissa (Josiah) Downs, Jacoby Blakeman, Colin Blakeman, and Camden Blakeman; five great-grandchildren, Alaina Downs, Jolina Downs, Leona Downs, Aaliyah Koster, and Gabrielle Koster; one sister-in-law, Margo Sommer; and her faithful companion, Chico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Kevin Blakeman, one brother, Ken Sommer, and one sister, Mary Sommer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to our sister Karen, who took such good care of our mother, and to Randy Perry of Dubuque.
