Hunter J. Thill
Hunter Joseph Thill, 26, of Dubuque, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center in Dubuque.
A prayer service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. The family requests that all in attendance please wear your Packers, Hawkeye, or NASCAR gear.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Hunter will be at 10:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Garner as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Hunter was born on January 17, 1998, in Dubuque, the son of James Jr. and Jennifer (Fangman) Thill. On August 19, 2023, he married Mercedes “Sadie” Sedbrook at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Hunter graduated from Hempstead High School in 2017. He worked for Menards, Hy-vee, and Happy Joes, most recently for Simmons Pet Food.
Hunter was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in Boy Scouts, as well as, hunting safety during his youth. He was a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and NASCAR. Additionally, Hunter enjoyed fishing and cherished moments with his wife, nephews, family, and pets.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Thill; his parents, James Jr. and Jennifer Thill of Dubuque; four siblings, Lisa (Steve) McGrath of Franklin, TN; Caitlynn (Alex) Helbing, Jacob Thill, and Wyatt Thill, all of Dubuque; his paternal grandfather, Deacon Jim Thill of Dubuque; his mother- and father-in-law, Tanya and David Janzig of Dubuque; his brothers-in-law, Nile Jebsen, Brett Clark, Grayson Clark, and Zane Janzig; sister-in-law, Kaitlyn Clark; and four nephews, Collin and Maxwell McGrath and Leo and Lincoln Helbing.
Hunter was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary and John Fangman; paternal grandmother, Sandra Thill; a father-in-law, Dana Clark; grandparents-in-law, Don and Irene Sedbrook, and Pat Laughlin; one aunt, Roberta Wolbers; a cousin, Nicholas LeGrand; and sister-in-law, Delilah Clark.
