Jacob A. Young
Jacob Anthony Young, 21, of Dubuque, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for Jacob will be 10:30 am Monday, March 11, 2024, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Jacob was born June 19, 2002, in Davenport, IA, the son of David S. and Lisa M. Young.
Jacob graduated from Hempstead High School in 2021. He was an apprentice with U.A. Local #125 Plumber & Pipefitters but recently returned to work with SMITH DIRT WRX.
Jacob embodied the spirit of adventure, finding joy in fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. He was really looking forward to going fishing this summer on the new fishing boat he just purchased. Jacob was a hard worker, dedicated, and driven. Jacob poured his heart into his pursuits, particularly his talent for smoking meats, showcasing his culinary skills. He loved football and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His magnetic personality drew others in effortlessly. With an infectious smile, quick wit, and genuine respect for everyone he encountered, Jacob left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. Simply put, if you knew him, you liked him.
Survivors include his mother, Lisa (Matt Gasper) Young of Dubuque; his father, David (Mary) Young of Bourbonnais, IL; one brother, AJ (Lili Caceres) Young of Milwaukee, WI; his girlfriend, Becca Breitbach of Sherrill; and his cat, Oscar. He is further survived by his paternal grandparents, Jennifer & Max Wildes of Evansdale, IA and Daniel & JoAnn Young of Waterloo; his maternal grandparents, Judy & Joe Lingua of Waterloo and maternal grandfather, Lon Luloff of Florida; maternal great-grandmother, Bev Ridder of Cedar Falls; three aunts, Carrie (RoShawn) Berry of Waterloo; Darcy (Dave) Stoen of Evansville, IA; Annie (Dan) Olsen of Cedar Falls, IA; one uncle, Nick (Angelina) Lingua of Waterloo; and many cousins and friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Joseph and Theresa Linkenmeyer and Ralph Ridder.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
