Sr. Marilyn Breen will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post #6.

Jim was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on July 2, 1946, to Raymond and Marjorie Schueller. A lifelong Dubuquer, he graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and served in the U.S. Navy for three years, from the day before his 18th birthday to the day before his 21st. On November 15, 1969, he married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kay” Breen, at Sacred Heart Church.

Jim worked for 33 years at the Dubuque Packing House. He later worked on the ground crew at Cole Acres and John Deere, and before retiring, he worked at the Hy-Vee convenience store on Locust Street, where he gave coworkers and customers a hard time.

He enjoyed fishing, golf, and watching his beloved Bears, Cubs, and Hawkeyes, but his favorite pastime was being a grandpa. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family.

If you knew Jim and Kay, you know their hospitality, and that Jim wanted you to “stick around.” Jim was quick to offer you a drink and suggest that Kay make you something to eat. It was a system that worked beautifully for more than 50 years, and no one ever left thirsty or unwelcome.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his children Tony (Carla) Schueller, Tina (Kyle) Shepard, Carrie (Aaron) Bolshaw, and Johnny (Amber) Schueller; and his grandchildren Kayla, Courtney (Ben), and Kylie Schueller, Easton and Avery Shepard, Sam, Anna and Millie Bolshaw, Adda, and Navey Schueller. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley (Gary) Jameson and Judi Russell, sister-in-law Jan Schueller; his in-laws Jerry and Pat Even, MaryAnne Breen, Sister Marilyn Breen, Mike Breen, Paul and Cindy Breen, Carl and Mary Breen, Sharon and Dan Fah, Dan Breen, and Mike and Donna Fuller; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marjorie Schueller; his brother, Maynard (Ray) Schueller; and his in-laws, Paul and Alverna Breen, brother-in-law Jim Breen, and sister-in-law Mary Breen.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Jim this past year, especially Dr. Salas, Dr. Ringold, and the wonderful team at Tri-State Home Dialysis Center.
