James M. Sheehy

James M. Sheehy, 55 of Dyersville, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his buddy, Sammy, at home on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024.
Jim was born on March 1, 1968, in Dubuque, Iowa, he was the son of Lawrence and Eileen (Doyle) Sheehy. He was a 1986 graduate of Western Dubuque High School. On October 9, 2004 he was united in marriage to Amy Wieneke at the Dubuque Arboretum.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 pm, on Sunday, January 14th, 2024, at Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue from 11:30 am-1:30 pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024 at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass. Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 2 pm at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with Rev. Chris Podjohsky presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Jim loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, as well as watching his nieces and nephews sporting events. He was an avid Steelers and Yankees fan, he had the time of his life attending the Yankees vs White Socks game at the Field of Dreams. He loved to bowl and he holds the distinction of a 700 series both right and left handed. He enjoyed umpiring semi pro baseball as well as coaching baseball.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Sheehy (Snuggles) of Dyersville; his children, Erin Sheehy at home, Brittany (Brandon) Knipper of Waverly, Blake (Emily) Burkle of Dyersville; his three favorite people: Garrett, Brooklyn, and Rhett Knipper of Waverly; his siblings: Lawrence Sheehy, Cyndi (Terry) McDermott, Kim (Kate) Sheehy, Dale Sheehy, Shelley Sheehy (special friend, Frank Holst), Phil Sheehy, Teresa (Don) Nothem, George (Sonya) Sheehy, Rena Sheehy (Ernie Bolibaugh), Sally Vander Linden, Sara Landstrum; in-laws: Jeff (Julie) Wieneke, Lori (Bruce) Maahs, Margie (Cam) Kolle, Danny (Sue) Wieneke; his special buddy Sammy; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Dick and Grace Wieneke; siblings: Susan Sheehy, Steve Sheehy, Brian Sheehy: in-laws, Wayne Wieneke and Nancy Sheehy.
The family is especially grateful for all of the prayers, thoughts, and acts of kindness. They would also like to thank the staff at MercyOne Dubuque Cancer Center, Dr. Morgan-Ihrig and her staff, and Hospice of Dubuque for their kindness and assistance.
