James W. Lange Sr.
James “Jim” W. Lange Sr., 81, of LaMotte, Iowa, formerly of East Dubuque, Illinois, passed away on August 12, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Toale officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family. Military Honors will be accorded.
Jim was born on August 5, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Edward and Mary (Clark) Lange. He was united in marriage to Judy Fluhr on January 30, 1965, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1968 in the Vietnam War. Jim retired from GCR Tire after 25 years. Jim liked to collect model cars, and loved his dogs. He loved the outside, whether it was working on the yard or cutting his grass.
Jim is survived by his wife, Judy; children, James (Staci) Lange Jr. and Timothy (Keri) Lange; ten grandchildren, Tabitha, James III, Christian, Sawyer (Sophia), Gunner (Nicole), Jacob (Alexya), Gabrielle (Gabe), Alexis, C.J., and Xavier.; one great grandchild, Murphy James; brothers-in-law Richard (Lynn) Fluhr and David Wordehoff; sister-in-law Patricia Lange; his informally adopted children Chuck and Juli, Tom and Amy, and Russ and Lori; great lifelong friend Linda Kisting; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary; grandson John; sisters Gayle (Tony), LaVonne (Jim), and Carol; brothers E.J. and Clark (Pat); parents-in-law John and Leona Fluhr; sisters-in-law Phyllis (Ray) and Grace (Ron); and brothers-in-law Jack and Eugene (Pat).
