Jan Rae Bjerke, age 74, of Dubuque passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026.  In keeping with Jan’s wishes, there will be committal prayers held in the chapel at Linwood Cemetery on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.  Behr Funeral Home is assisting her family.

Jan was born on May 21, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Merlin and Dolores (Duenser) Bjerke.

She was a 1970 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.  Jan worked several places before her retirement including Eagle Country Market, AAA Travel and at Antique Trader.

Jan is survived by the “best sister she never had”,  Betty Jane Flesch, of Dubuque.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 aunts, Eunice (Wayne) Gabriel and Marcella “Toodie” Bjerke.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jamie, for their kindness and compassionate care of Jan.
