Jane A. Wagner
Jane Ann Wagner, 83, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jane will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church -Temple Hill with Father Michael Schueller as the Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery – Temple Hill.
Jane Ann Wagner was born August 20, 1942, the daughter of Marvin and Vivian A. (Kenny) Wagner, on a farm south of Cascade. She attended elementary school at St. Peter’s in Temple Hill. She graduated high school from St. Mary’s in Cascade in 1959.
She joined the convent at Mount Saint Francis in Dubuque in August of 1959 and served the community at Sacred Heart in Filmore, St. Mary’s in Dubuque, and St. Mary’s in Remsen, IA, and received her bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA, before being asked to return to lay life in May of 1970. Ms. Wagner taught special education in the Western Dubuque community for 30 years, teaching in Farley, Epworth, Bernard, and Cascade elementary schools through the years. She retired in June of 2000.
Jane was a member of the National Education Association, A.A.R.P., and also the Association of Retired School Personnel.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Green of Cascade, IA, and Margaret Ann “Peggy” (Pat) Kearney of Cascade, IA; one brother, Joseph Marvin (Mary Jo) Wagner of Anamosa, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Rev. Robert Wagner, one sister, Margene Holt, and one brother-in-law, Jerome Green.
