Janet was born on September 26, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Joanne (Berg) Lindenberg. She graduated from Northeast Iowa Technical Institute as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married Donald J. Genz on December 17, 1984, in Dubuque.
Janet was the true definition of a nurse. She had a giving heart and lived a life full of kindness. She worked at Sunnycrest Manor for more than 25 years and was a member of Rockdale United Methodist Church. Janet was a talented seamstress. She loved music and would often sing along to her favorite songs. She was a passionate sports fan, watching and attending Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes games with her husband and son. Janet loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She would often travel to watch their sports games and looked forward to their yearly visit in the summer. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved giving gifts to everyone and had presents piled almost as high as the tree. Janet graciously fought cancer for 13 years.
