She passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at home surrounded by family, after a long  and courageous journey with cancer. Visitation will be from  4 to 7 pm Tuesday, May 19 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 20 at the Church of the Nativity.

Janice was born March 11, 1954, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Martin “Max” and Marie (Pettinger) Fangman. She graduated from Wahlert High School in 1972.

On May 12, 1973, she married her soulmate, Joe Healey. They were married at the Church of the Nativity. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. She was an amazing mother to her three sons. Her family was her greatest joy. She was blessed to be able to stay at home with her boys throughout their childhoods and once they were old enough, Janice started working as an office manager for Jim Kircher and Associates. She retired in 2023.

She was a member of Nativity Church. She enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, and going fishing on their boat. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially with her grandchildren, who loved their “Meme” very much.

Janice was a woman of strength and courage. She was honest and kind, with a magnetic personality that drew people to her. She was easy to love and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Martin “Max” and Marie Fangman; her in-laws, Cliff and Janette Healey; her brother in law, Mark Muir; and her grandparents.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Healey of Dubuque; three sons, Joe Jr., Ausitn (Toni) and Zach (Chasity) Healey, all of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Eathan and Brooke Healey, Ella Campbell and Bentley Healey, Alexis Healey and Addison Weinert; four siblings, John (Joan) Fangman, Sandra Duffy, Mary Kay Muir, and JoAnn (Francis) Guinta, all of Dubuque; a brother in law, Tym Healey of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful care.
