Jason J. Wernke, age 42, of Dubuque, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024.  To honor Jason’s life private family services were held.  Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is assisting the family.

Jason was born on May 24, 1981, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Donald and Barbara (Johnson) Wernke.

Jason attended school at Dubuque Senior High School and Central High School.  After school he worked for several places, lastly at Nordstrom in Dubuque.  He married Melissa Pope in September of 2003, in Dubuque.  In his free time Jason enjoyed shooting pool with friends, going camping and trying his luck at the casinos.  He was always willing to help out a friend in need with a smile on his face and no complaints.  He especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Cody (Jordan) Bartell, Jesse (Jenna) Bartell, Richard Bartell, Dawson Brehm, Braiden Brehm, and Chase Brehm;

and several cousins.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
