Jeanette was born on May 3, 1934, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Arthur and Rose (Bildstein) Recker. She married Thomas Bell on November 28, 195 in Dyersville, Iowa. Together, they farmed southwest of Dyersville and raised their children. She treasured the farm and the simple pleasures and life lessons that came with it.
Jeanette was a woman who found joy in giving back to others, staying involved in her community, and making lasting memories with family and friends. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and was instrumental in organizing the Mercy Hospital Bazaar. She also served as a tour guide at the Dyer House, was a proud member of her beloved St. Jude’s Mother’s Club, volunteered her time with hospice and taught literacy to children. Jeanette enjoyed teaching Dancercise classes at the Dyersville Recreation Center and loved her winters in Texas with Tom and friends.
She had a special gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. She loved baking and was known for always having a freezer full of cookies to share. She enjoyed dancing and playing cards as well as singing on the phone with her sister, Rose Ann.
Above all, Jeanette will be remembered for her caring heart, generous spirit, and willingness to help those in need. She saw life as a blessing and shared that blessing by taking care of her neighbors, volunteering at the nursing home, and being there for those around her. Her kindness and dedication to others touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.
