Jeffery D. Tracy
Jeffery Douglas Tracy, 47, of Dubuque, IA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jeffery will be 10:30 am Friday, March 14, 2025, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.
Jeff was born on April 15, 1977, the son of Duane and Gloria (Bennett) Tracy. He graduated from Senior High School in 1995 and then from Northeast Iowa Community College. Jeff and Katie’s love story began when they met at her brother’s New Year’s Eve party in 2003, and they have been inseparable ever since. They married two years later on New Year’s Eve 2005 at Church of the Resurrection.
Jeff has been a hard worker his whole life. For the last ten years, he worked at Flint Hills Resources, where he was recently promoted to Health and Safety Specialist. Before that, he worked at Prairie Farms Dairy and Edward’s Cast Stone.
Jeff was an avid sports fan and especially loved cheering for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. But his favorite sport to watch was whatever his two sons were playing. Jeff helped coach youth baseball, football and basketball. He also enjoyed working on home projects and took pride in his tool collection. Jeff enjoyed traveling with his family and making memories. He loved his wife, Katie, with all his heart and his sons, Luke and Noah, were his pride and joy. Anyone that crossed paths with the 6’ 7’’ gentle giant knew immediately what a kind, patient, and caring person he was. Jeff’s friends and family will fondly remember his sense of humor and witty one-liners.
Jeff faced his cancer diagnosis with incredible strength and grace. He fought to the end in hopes to watch his sons play soccer and baseball this spring, to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, and to continue to make memories with his family.
He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his beloved wife, Katie, and children, Luke and Noah; his father, Duane “Wayne” Tracy of Dubuque; one sister Amy (Tod) Wolter of Wyoming, IA; one brother Mark Tracy of Dubuque; father- and mother-in-law, Duane “Wayne” and Michelle Brown of Asbury; brother-in-law Ryan (Jennie) Brown of Dubuque; sister-in-law Meghan (Brandon) Monroe of Asbury; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria; niece, Hailey Tracy; cousin, Brian Gockel; and aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his sons’ education.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Eric Engleman and the entire MercyOne Dubuque Cancer Center team as well as Hospice of Dubuque.
