Jerre A. Fey

Jerre “Jer” A. Fey, 77, of Maquoketa, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at home.

Jerre Alan Fey was born on January 27, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa, to Lloyd and Camilla (Wagner) Fey.  He was a 1967 graduate of Delwood High School.  Following graduation, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. His service reflected the quiet strength, discipline, and sense of duty that would remain with him throughout his life.

After returning home from military service, Jerre went to work in the concrete business in the Quad Cities. Jerre then built a career as a self-employed independent carpenter contractor. He owned and operated Fey Construction for many years with the help of his son.

In April 1973, Jerre married Patricia McDermott at Petersville, Iowa. Together they were blessed with two children, Matthew and Amy. Family was central to Jerre’s life, and he cherished the role of father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Jerre was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a devoted Iowa sports enthusiast. He enjoyed following athletics and was especially proud to support his children at their sporting events. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and found great happiness in those family moments. One of the special memories his family will always carry is that he even delivered his granddaughter Melissa. Jerre also enjoyed playing cards at Fletch’s Pub, Timber Lanes, and McDonald’s and looked forward to breakfast with his morning coffee group at City Limits.

Those left to honor his memory in his children, Matthew Fey of Maquoketa, IA, and Amy (Daniel) Ryan of Davenport, IA; 2 grandchildren, Melissa, and Christopher; and siblings, Steve (Ronda) Fey of Urbandale, IA, Ron (Peggy) Fey of Eagle, WI, Penny Deboer of Guthrie Center, IA, Tom (Mary) Fey of Clear Lake, IA, and Chuck (and girlfriend Jean) Fey of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering of family and friends celebrating Jer’s life will be held from 1 to 4 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Timber Center in Maquoketa.  A private graveside service and burial will be held at the Elwood, Iowa Cemetery.  The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Jerre A. “Jer” Fey memorial fund has been established.
