Joan E. (Reuter) Gerardy, 90, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at Mill Valley Care Center.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Family will greet friends 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, additional visitation will be 10:00 am until Mass on Wednesday at church.  Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springbrook.

Joan was born December 21, 1935 in Sugar Creek, the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Banowetz) Reuter.  She was united in marriage to Gene J. Gerardy on November 17, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Preston, Iowa, he passed away on September 12, 2026. Together, Gene and Joan built a loving family and shared more than 70 years of marriage.

Joan loved music and playing her accordion, gardening, canning, making homemade bread and cookies.  Her faith and family was central to her life.  Joan cherished her time with family and friends.  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Vincent (Patti) Gerardy, Sharon (Deacon Greg) Michel, Cletus (Joy) Gerardy, Tom (Diana) Gerardy, Dennis (Elaine) Gerardy, Jim (Deb) Gerardy, Dave (Tere) Gerardy, Rich (Renee) Gerardy; and her 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Reuter, sister in-law, Noami Reuter; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Katherine Reuter; her father and mother in-law, John and Evelyn Gerardy; her husband, Gene; her daughter, Mary Ann Gerardy; a grandson, Travis Gerardy; her siblings and in-laws, Vern Reuter, Julius (Mary) Reuter, Wilfred Reuter, Michael Reuter, Ben Reuter, Theresa (Tom) Hansen, Mary (Albert) Kilburg, Catherine (Earl) Kilburg, Bertha Reuter, Laurentia (Ben) Roling, Dorothy (Ambrose) Roling, and Elizabeth (Ben) Frett.

A memorial fund has been established in Joan’s memory.
