JoAnn H. Hefel Kremer, 80, of Farley, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her home in Farley, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of JoAnn may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Monday morning at the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

She was born July 24, 1937 in Dubuque County, Iowa, daughter of Ben and Clara (Felder) Markus. On July 3, 1954 she was united in marriage to Louis Hefel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1977. On August 3, 1979 she was united in marriage to Arnold Kremer Jr. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1996.

She was a bus driver for the Western Dubuque School district for many years.

She is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society in Farley, Iowa. JoAnn enjoyed sewing and has made many quilts throughout the years. She also enjoyed cruising around in her golf cart, shopping with her sister Linda, baking cookies and was known for her apple dumplings. Jo Ann especially loved the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn (Marvin) Hoffmann of Epworth, IA; four sons, Chris (Gail) Hefel of Farley, IA, Dale (Lu Ann) Hefel of Dubuque, IA, Mark Hefel and Jay (Brenda) Hefel both of Farley, IA; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Dorrance (Ida) Markus of East Moline, IL, and Ron (Gloria) Markus of Dubuque, IA; two sisters, Linda Takes Davis of Cascade, IA and Mary Jane Boleyn of Dubuque, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Adelene Hefel of Dubuque, IA, Betty Hefel of Balltown, IA, Norman “Coosie” (Judy) Kremer of Cascade, Leonard (Mary Ann) Kremer, Roger (Nita) Kremer both of Dubuque, IA, Willard (Barb) Kremer of Bernard, IA, Lindy (James) Pfab of El Paso, IL, Joyce (Gene) Lochner of Key West, IA, Bob Langel of Dubuque, IA and Doris (Allan) Kremer of Epworth, IA.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alan Hefel on January 27, 1979; two brothers, LaVern (Vi) Markus and Ben (Mary Jane) Markus; one sister, Gerry Williams; brothers-in-law, Alan Boleyn, Larry Takes, Harold Davis, Phil Hefel, Tony Hefel, Marcellus (Viola) Hefel, Vince ( Lorraine) Hefel, Lawrence (Alice) Hefel, Bernard Hefel, Gene Hefel; three sisters-in-law, Hilda (Clarence) Wagner, Darlene (James) Reuter and Judy Langel.
