John Foht
John “Jack” Foht, 95, of East Dubuque, passed away October 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque. Burial will be in East Dubuque Cemetery.
John was born on June 27, 1929, to Henry and Matilda (Sherman) Foht in Mason City, IA.
He served in the United States Army from May 19, 1955-May 1, 1957.
John worked at John Deere for thirty years until retiring in 1997. After retirement, he enjoyed working many miscellaneous jobs around town.
In his free time, John loved woodworking, camping, and could always be found tinkering in the garage. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.
John never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He loved his grandchildren dearly and never missed a special birthday.
John is survived by his children, Julie (Phil) Casper, Janice (Doug) Thornton, Cathy (Kenny) Greene, John (Jeanelle) Foht and Sherry (Glen) Christensen. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean (Grant) Foht.
John’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the compassionate nurses at the VA for their excellent care.
A John Foht Memorial Fund has been established.
