Joseph E. Wachter, age 73, Scales Mound, IL passed away on Wednesday, Dec 11, 2024, at home.

Family and friends may call from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Miller-Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., with his nephew, Jeremy Wachter officiating.  Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Joe was born March 11, 1951, son of Leverne and Mary K. (Cavanaugh) Wachter in Hazel Green, WI.

He was a graduate of Scales Mound High School, Class of 1969.

He worked on the family farm until he was hired as welder at John Deere in Dubuque, IA for 8 years and went on to work at Woods Equipment in Oregon, IL for 20 years.

Joe’s favorite and loved pastime was riding his motorcycle for 50+ years.

 He was known to his many friends as: Wicky Wac, Fuzzy and Man From Glad.

Surviving are his brothers; Robert (Diane) Wachter of Scales Mound, IL, Francis (Joanne) Wachter of Galena, IL and his sister Julie (Tony) Edwards of Galena, IL; his 5 grandchildren: David (Ana) Jaimes, Jasmine Jaimes, Rubin Aviles, Roxanne Aviles and Trinity Aviles; 2 great grandchildren: Ariel Jaimes and Ezra Christian and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Wachter and daughter Susan Aviles.
