Joy Winger
Joy Flick (Sites) Winger, 79, of Maquoketa, Iowa, was born June 7, 1944 in Dubuque, Iowa, to Mervin and Regina (Howe) Flick. She grew up in Maquoketa, Iowa and graduated in 1962 from Elgin High School, Elgin, IL.
She married Robert Sites on June 19, 1967, in Savanna, IL. He died on January 15, 1978. After 17 years of courtship, she married Robert Winger in Maquoketa on June 23, 1995. He died on February 24, 2014.
Joy worked for DHS, attorney Robert Klauer, Farm Bureau, Maquoketa Hospital, and retired 4 months ago after working at Imagine the Possibilities, Inc. For 40 years. She enjoyed gambling, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Lin (Jim) Jorgensen and Julie Alexander; grandchildren Abby Gansen, John (Kayla) Bollinger and Gracie Joy Jorgensen; great-grandchildren Kasey and Logan Jones, Wylde Gansen, Cash, Riggs, Kingston and Lettie Williams, Nellie, Evelyn and Onalee Bollinger, all of Maquoketa, and a grandson Kristopher of Indiana. A sister Wendy (Robert) Roshinski of Rhode Island, stepsons Daniel (Jolene) Winger and Thomas (Annette) Contos of Washington State, a stepdaughter Debbie Laverty of Vermont, and a niece Tricia (Stephen) Fuller of Cedar Rapids. Also, a sister-in-law Judie (Francis) Beller of Delhi and a niece Stacy (Randy) Christiansen of Delhi as well as a number of cousins and step grandchildren/great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a sister Rita Stevens, a nephew Steve Ilgis and stepdaughter Bobbie Breitbach.
Joy’s body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Deeded Body Program. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
