Judith E. Olson

Judith E. Olson, 91, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Visitation will be held 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Funeral Services will commence at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Colesburg. Rev. Mike Ashman will officiate.

Judith was born June 18, 1934, near Millville, Iowa, daughter of Ernest and Lilith (Troester) Kickbush. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.

She married Lorimer Olson on June 18, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. After Lorimer completed his service in the Air Force they returned to Clayton County where they operated a farm together. She also worked over 30 years in the nursing profession. Judith loved gardening as could be seen at their home in Colesburg and on the farm.  She was a Master Gardener.  She was also known for her Orchids that flourished under her care.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, crafting, golfing, and was an avid reader. Judith was a proud recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award for the addition of the gazebo and plantings in Pride Park in Colesburg. She cherished following her grandchildren’s activities as they grew up.

Survivors include her son, Lorrie (Rosalie) Olson of Colesburg; daughters: Julie (Lyle Bischof) Gilmore of Marion, Kristine (Jay) Urdahl of Mason City; grandchildren: Jon, Jared, Jill, Justin, Shannan, Jason, Jacob, Derrick, Olivia, and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Marilyn Koehler of Dubuque, Lareen (Clark) Gull of Marion, and Arlan Kickbush of Colesburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorimer in 2016; her parents; brother-in-law, Ted Koehler; sister-in-law, Anne Kickbush.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Master Gardners of Manchester.
