Kathleen “Kathy” A. (Hoffman) Michel,61, of Bellevue, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family following a 7 year battle with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue with Sharing of Memories at 7:00 pm. Private Family burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Kathy was born December 28, 1962, in Dubuque, the daughter of Gerald “Harry” and Mary “Donna” (Murphy) Hoffman. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1977 and married Edward “Rabbit” Michel on July 24, 1981. Kathy’s pride and joy was her family. She was incredibly proud of her kids and grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed spending time on the beach, drives in the convertible, “occasional” trips to the casino, shopping, social events, and grandkids sporting events. Kathy and Ed were foster parents for many years for over 70 children and recently reconnected with 3 of them. She worked at the Pickle Barrel and then at Dubuque Internal Medicine/Grand River Medical center for many years before retiring. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; children, Sara (Kevin) Kloser, Stephanie (Jesse) Kremer, Phil (Ashley Barry) Michel, and Madilyn Michel; grandchildren, Christopher, Aubrey, Hannah, Charlie, Tyrelle, Logan, Henry, Sloane, Layne, Sawyer, and Raylyn; siblings, Richard “Byrd” (Diane) Hoffman, Dennis “Chink” (Kim) Hoffman; in-laws, Rodney Michel, David (Tami) Michel, and Jennifer (Jacob) Budde.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; a son Trevor; a grandson, Clayton; father and mother in-law, Edward and Jean Rose Michel, Sr.; and a brother Donald “Bear” Hoffman.
A memorial fund has been established in Kathy’s memory.
