She graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1956 and played defense on the women’s basketball team. After graduation, she moved to Dubuque and attended business school before working at the Dubuque Packing Company in the office. They married on June 25, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Church in Rickardsville, and honeymooned in Colorado. Perly and Katie enjoyed taking their six children camping, fishing, and they continued to travel through retirement, visiting their adult children around the country, often with grandchildren in tow. They were married for 61 years at the time of Perly’s passing in 2021. Katie cherished her bowling team and their tournament trips around the country. She was a wonderful cook who loved hosting parties and Euchre games for family and friends. Katie was a talented seamstress, sewing many of her kids clothes and Halloween costumes.
