Keith E. Beckel Jr., 75, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Harmony Nursing Home in Dubuque.

Keith was born on February 12, 1951, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Keith Eugene and Laura Ann (Wangsness) Beckel Sr. He graduated from Austin High School with the Class of 1969 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. Following his honorable discharge, Keith began his career with the Milwaukee Road Railroad. He continued his work in the railroad industry and retired as a Superintendent with the DM&E Railroad in 2011. On August 23, 1975, Keith was united in marriage to Sally June Hilden.

Keith especially cherished spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He enjoyed playing cards at the casino and was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.

Keith is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Randy) Fish; grandchildren, Camylle Bultman, McKenzie Beckel, and Samantha, Dawson and Landon Fish; great grandchildren, Beck and Henry Robertson; his siblings, Paulette (Rodger) Lane, Brad Beckel, Paul Beckel, Jeff Beckel, Kathy (Tom) Hardy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; son, Michael Keith Beckel; and his parents.

A private burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota. A celebration of life will be held at a later date by his family. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.
