Kelley was a people person. She loved to talk and get the “scoop.” To be around her was to hear awkward catchphrases like “dorkasaurus” “get out of town!” and “what time is it in real life?” She liked stupid things like trash tv and tabloids or a bargain bin mystery novel no one’s ever heard of. She collected rocks and loved to talk about what they were and where they were from. I don’t think she really knew. She was fun. She was a cartoon. She was the absolute best.
To meet Kelley Fleege was to know her entirely, instantly. She was special person with a unique way of being who winked too much and was too understanding. Everywhere she went felt lighter, sounded louder, and smelled like pyramid red 100’s. Kelley’s legacy is a life in which she loved bigly, boldly, and unconditionally. She was a quirky, vibrant, and hilarious spirit who lives on forever in the culture of the family. It is a privilege few attain to be adored the way she will continue to be.
Surviving are her husband, Dan Fleege, her mother, Georgette O’Brien, her children, Dustin Dura, Colton Fleege, Jason Fleege, Crystal Moore, and Amber Fleege, her siblings, Sheila Ehlers, Sheree Viertel, Mike O’Brien and Kelly O’Brien, her grandchildren Addie Dura, Cora Dura, Mackenzie Dura, Kylee Fleege, Shaylee Kelly, Clayton Redding, Kenson Thein, Morgan Moore, Keira Moore, Skylar Moore, Tatum Fleege, Fynnegan Fleege, Odyn Fleege, and Freya Fleege.
She was preceded in death by her father, JT “Toby” O’Brien; and her son, Austin Dura.
The Fleege Family is grateful to Hospice of Dubuque for providing comfort to her and to us through this process.
