Larry A. Hill
Larry A. Hill, 78, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Mercy One Genesis Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, after a hard-fought battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Larry Allen Hill was born October 27, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa to Clarence and Marjorie (Tadsen) Hill. He graduated from Dewitt High School with the Class of 1966. Larry was united in marriage to Diane Greve on May 27, 1977, at Elvira Lutheran Church, Elvira, Iowa.
Larry worked at ADM in Clinton, Moorman’s Feed Sales, and for many years as a hog broker. He was a horse owner and breeder, and his love of horses was a foundation of his life.
Larry enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. He had a passion for sweets and concession stands and could regularly be found at games getting a hot dog and popcorn. His number one job was being Grandpa, spending time with his grandchildren and supporting their interests.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Diane of Maquoketa; children Laurie (Kurt) Lechtenberg of Coralville, IA, Stacie Nelson of North Liberty, IA, Christa (Josh) Koob of Maquoketa, and Chad (Kelsey) Hill of Maquoketa; brothers Richard (Lorna) Hill of Dewitt, IA, and Kenny (Connie) Hill of Lynden, WA; grandchildren Ryan and Austin Lechtenberg, Paige and Shea Nelson, Cael and Cole Koob, and Haylee and Harper Hill; great-grandchildren Chase, Brecken, Quinn, Collins, and Sunny; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Hill and his four-legged best friend, Lucy.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 12:15 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center, Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, April 11, prior to the service.
