Lillian A. Breitbach

Lillian Ann Breitbach, age 93, of Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 23, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

A Visitation will be held at the Hoffmann, Schneider, & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, IA on Sunday, March 3 from 1 to 5 PM, where a prayer service will be offered at 4:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Resurrection Church on Monday, March 4 at 10:30 AM. Fr. Phil Gibb will be presiding. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Lillian was born on September 8, 1925 to her parents John and Ida Nauman. Lillian is the beloved wife of the late John J. Breitbach whom she married on May 29, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA; he preceded her in death on September 10, 1990. Lillian is the loving mother of Debbie Ginter, Dubuque, IA, Robert J. Breitbach of Dubuque, IA, Sue (Dan) Bublitz, of Dubuque, IA, Maribeth (Robert) Devereaux, of Elk Grove Village, IL, David J. Breitbach of Dubuque, IA, Daniel (Nancy) Breitbach, of East Dubuque, IL, and Terry T. (Jenny) Breitbach of East Dubuque, IL. Cherished grandmother of Scott Bublitz, Lisa (Bublitz) Digman, Sarah (Egan) Collins, James Devereaux, Doug Egan, Bobby Devereaux, Katie (Devereaux) Melford, Matt Breitbach, Jake Breitbach, Jon Breitbach, and Charlie Breitbach; great-grandmother of eleven; sister of Dorothy Kisting, Mary Ann Burbach, Darlene (Bob) Murphy, and Pat Torgler, all of Dubuque, IA. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Jeanette and Germaine Nauman, a grandson, Jeremy Breitbach, a great-granddaughter Scarlett Digman, her son-in-law, Ken Ginter, and her brothers-in-law Bill Kisting and Carl Burbach. She was the loving, primary caregiver of her late husband for ten years prior to his death. She was a longtime member of Resurrection Church and a former member of the 62 plus club, where she enjoyed playing cards and having lunch every Tuesday at Happy’s as well as an avid volunteer at the Dubuque Arboretum.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
