Linda was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Dubuque to Norbert “Butch” and Lois (Donovan) Houselog. She wed John Gunther on Feb. 14, 2024, at their home in Myrtle Beach. She was formerly married to Ed Meyer of Dubuque and the late Pat Lee of Galva, Illinois.

Linda was passionate about caring for the elderly, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and worked for many years as an activities director at Avonlea Cottage in Milan, Illinois, and Ridgecrest Village in Davenport. She had a soft spot for shelter animals, including her dog Chloe, and loved planning parties, beach life and fundraising to find cures to Alzheimer’s disease and cancer.

Her survivors include her husband; daughters Jennifer (Brad Michels) Meyer-Michels of Blue Grass, Carla (Dusty) Kelchen of Cedar Rapids, and Mandy (Jeremiah) Schramm of Bettendorf; grandchildren Rhett, Graham and Blythe Michels, Samantha, Henry, Hadley and Thomas Kelchen and Nolan and Vera Schramm; brother Michael Houselog of Poplar Grove, Illinois; many cousins, including Julie Schwendinger of Dubuque, who she considered a sister; and many friends, including Cindy Stewart and Carol Krohmer since childhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marianne, in infancy; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association, or to donate platelets at your local blood center to assist cancer patients still fighting this terrible disease.
