Linda Krabacher-Bennett
Linda Krabacher-Bennett (Pfiffner), age 75, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully at home with her son by her side in the early morning hours of February 8th, 2026, after a long battle with COPD.
At Linda’s request there will be no visitation or funeral services. A small celebration of life will be planned for family and close friends in the near future.
Linda was born April 2, 1950, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Kate and LaVern Pfiffner and lived most of her life in East Dubuque, IL. As a young, single mother, she worked multiple jobs in order to provide for her son, John. Eventually she found her calling at the US Post Office and worked there until her retirement. In 1980 she met John Bennett, aka Jack or Benny. Jack moved in and it wasn’t long until the two were married in 2006. They remained together until his death in 2014.
Linda enjoyed the simple things in life. Boating on the river, sunbathing, spending time with friends, and traveling. She may hold the world record for longest viewer of General Hospital, having watched it since its inception in 1963 until the week she passed. She loved being around people and everywhere she went she was sure to run into someone she knew. If she was invited somewhere you could always count on her being there… and being there early. Linda was very sentimental. She remembered even the smallest details from all of her encounters and loved reminiscing about the past and looking at old photos and videos. She spoke her mind and those closest to her know that when the mood struck she could use some of the most colorful language you’d hear anywhere. Above all she was hard-working and selfless. She always put others before herself, especially her son and grandchildren. They were her world.
She spent her final years living next to her sister Kathy and Kathy’s husband Alan who became her caregivers. It took tremendous effort from them and we will be forever grateful for it. Thank you Kathy and Alan. She never would have made it this long without you.
Linda is survived by her son, John (Ressie) Krabacher; her step-daughter, Tina (John) Winders; her grandchildren, Alex (Dana), Kayla, John Carlos, Synthia, and Sara; her great-grandchildren, Kalub, Colton, and Eilyn; her sister, Kathy (Alan) Ernzen; her brothers, Bob (Ann) and Jim (Michelle) Pfiffner; her in-laws, Kathy (Joe) Klein, Dawn Vasey, Joanne Breen, and Paul (Deb) Herburger; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bennett; her parents, Kate and LaVern Pfiffner; her mother and father-in-law, Ormal and Wealtha Bennett; sister-in-law, Rosemary (Royce) Ohde; her brothers-in-law, Rod Vasey and Bill Krabacher; her dog Prince; and many dear friends.
She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Linda’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital and Hospice of Dubuque for the compassionate care they’ve provided over the years.
