Linda L. Grobstick

Linda L. Grobstick, 73, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at home.

Linda Lou Schnoor was born on January 11, 1951 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Allen and Edna (Heeren) Schnoor.  She grew up in Maquoketa and proudly graduated from Maquoketa High School. Her early years were filled with the love and guidance of her parents. On July 1, 1989, she married the love of her life, Harold G.A. “Grubby” Grobstick, in Bettendorf, Iowa, and together they built a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories until his passing on September 10, 2012.

Linda began her career at the Rockdale Quarry in Maquoketa, working alongside her father. When the quarry was sold to Century Concrete, Linda continued to apply her skills and dedication with the new owners. Later, she brought her warmth and kindness to Maquoketa High School, where she served as a lunchroom server until her well-deserved retirement.

Linda’s zest for life was evident in her many interests. She was a social butterfly who loved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Her passion for cars was unmistakable, especially when she was behind the wheel of her Mustang convertible, cruising to car shows or simply enjoying the open road. Above all, Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of family gatherings, always ensuring that everyone felt loved and connected.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Debra (Delbert) Shaw of Eldrige, IA, Melanie (Roger) Thiering of Davenport, IA, and James (Terry) Grobstick of Davenport, IA; brothers, Rodger (Pat) Schnoor of Monmouth, IA, and Lynn Schnoor of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, Beth (Dan) Ruffner, John (Mallory) Shaw, Joe (Nicki) Thiering, McKenzie Lillyblade, Brett (Ashlee) Thiering, and Erin (Kyle) Allender; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild with one on the way; sister-in-law, Helen Schnoor of Maquoketa, IA; aunt Fern Schoenthaler of Maquoketa, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, and a brother Allen Schnoor.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 28, 2024, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.  The family requests you dress casually and wear your favorite Iowa Hawkeyes or Dallas Cowboys attire.

The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Jackson County for all their kindness.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
