Linda R. Schmidt, age 72, has joined our Lord on September 12, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.  At the time of her passing, she was surrounded and comforted by family.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. The burial will be at Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Linda was born on February 22, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa.  The daughter of Charles and Elsie (Haar) Beversdorf, she married Robert Schmidt on October 7, 1972, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church.

Linda was most recently employed at St. Mark’s Youth Enrichment for the last 20 years, retiring in 2022.  Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, or participating in many other outdoor activities.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family on the Mississippi River waterskiing or enjoying time at their cabin north of Bellevue.  She was active and played on multiple volleyball and softball teams in the tri-state area.  Even with these activities, she found time to relax by reading a good book, watching a movie, or putting together a jigsaw puzzle.  Her family is very grateful for the memories and experiences that she provided them throughout her lifetime.

Linda is survived by her two children: Gregory (Lisa) Schmidt of Kalona, granddaughter Aimee (Jake) Forgie of Washington, great-granddaughter Raegan; Charles (Nina) Schmidt and grandchildren Sophia and William of Aurora, South Dakota. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Charles and Elsie Beversdorf, a sister Rita Mae Beversdorf, a brother Ronald Beversdorf, and her husband Robert Schmidt precede Linda in death.

Linda wishes to thank Dr. Nelson, the Hospice of Dubuque staff (Angela, Amy), as well as the numerous nurses and staff at Luther Manor – Grand Meadows that provided her care and comfort in her final days.

Memorial gifts may be donated to either St. Mark’s Youth Enrichment Center or to Hospice of Dubuque.
