Loretta M. Dawkins, 97, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on May 14, 2023.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Holy Spirit Parish (Holy Ghost Church) with Fr. Steve Garner officiating.  The burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  No visitation will be held prior.  Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa, is assisting the family.

Loretta was born on April 19, 1926, to Lawrence and Catherine (Pfohl) Kirpes.  She married Richard H. Dawkins in 1958.  Richard preceded Loretta in death in 1998.

Loretta started and owned two beauty salons in Farley and Waterloo, IA.  She belonged to many clubs throughout her lifetime.  She had lived in San Antonio and Fort Worth, TX for many years before settling in Dubuque, IA.

Survivors include her sisters Jeanette and Pat, her brother Robert (Alice) Kirpes, her sister-in-law Norma Jean Kirpes (Ray), and several nieces and nephews.
