She was born May 28, 1949, in Shawano, Wisconsin, daughter of Richard and Donna (Werbelow) Echtner and grand-daughter of Grace Edison Echtner.  On October 28, 1967, she was united in marriage to Fred Waelchli in Shawano, WI.

Lynn was one of a kind wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend known for always putting others before herself. The focal point of her family that never wanted to be. A bit of hippy with a free spirit that was truly a joy to be around. Her creativity shined through her art, crafts and floral arrangements not just through her career at Becky’s Bouquets and amongst other places, but also for her family and friends through heartfelt gifts over the years. She kept everyone well fed from her recipes that can never be replicated quite as good as hers, especially her world-renowned Onion Dip. She enjoyed traveling, with Orange Beach, AL being their favorite destination. She took great joy in being a lifelong member of the Manchester Mother’s Club and the friendships it provided. She was proud to be a “weird mom” that she always said built character in her kids and grandkids. She was a uniquely beautiful soul through and through that loved her family immensely.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Waelchli of Dubuque, IA; two children, Melissa (Cary) Gentz of Lamont, IA and Creed (Lynn) Waelchli of Peosta, IA; her five grandchildren, Sara (Jacob) Reiff, Seaver (Natalie) Gentz, and Scott (Nicole) Gentz and Jaxen and Hayden Waelchli; nine great grandchildren; and three sisters, LuAnn (Carl) Hoffman of Appleton, WI, Lori (Pete) Hintz of Shawano, WI and Kathy Shaw of Pittsburg, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Alice Waelchli.

Memorials can be made in Lynn’s name to Finley Hospital’s Images Through Innovation campaign towards providing comfort, clarity and care to those affected by breast cancer.
