Mary Kay Leytem

Mary Kay Leytem, 77, of Dubuque passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Family will greet friends 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home 3860 Asbury Rd with a 7:30 pm Scripture Service, additional visitation will be 9:15 am – 10:00 am, Friday prior to Mass at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Mary Kay was born July 8, 1940 in Dubuque the oldest child of John J. and Lenore M. (Knockel) Leytem. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and worked at various places over the years, until retiring from A.Y. McDonald.

Mary Kay always enjoyed the Cat Fish Festival and enjoyed being around her family.

Survivors include her siblings, Jeanette Loso of Rockford, IL, Jane (Garth) Tomkins of Asbury, Connie Kemp of Mesa, AZ, Madonna (Roger) Sopha of Arlington, WI, Sue (William) Davis of Durango, Luellen Swan of Asbury, Lynn (Richard) Koos of Peosta, William Leytem of Dubuque, John “Whitey” (Lois) Leytem of Asbury, and Daniel “Joe” (Maureen) Leytem of Asbury; also surviving, numerous nieces and nephews.

May Kay was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Leytem; nephews, Steven and John Tomkins, Matthew Sofa, in infancy a nephew Jordan Sopha and a niece, Lori Kemp; brother in-laws, Loras Kemp and George Swan; a great niece, Laura Tomkins; and longtime friend, Donna Ginter.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial find has been established in Mary Kay’s memory.
