Michael J. “Mike” Pregler, II., age 48, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on July 26, 2025, at UnityPoint Finley Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Mike’s life, his Celebration of Life will begin at noon on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Eagle Point Park in the Riverfront Pavilion, 2601 Shiras Avenue in Dubuque.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Mike’s family.

Mike was born on May 22, 1977, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Michael J. and Joann M. (Fondell) Pregler, Sr.  He enjoyed life, made friends wherever he went and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  Mike worked in food service primarily, but for those who knew him best, his heart was always longed to be at home where he could be listening to his music and cheering on his San Francisco 49ers.  He was gifted with an incurable sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to the faces around him was uncanny.  His timing was impeccable and pulling just the right one liners out of the air was a true talent.  Mike was also a generous and empathetic man who would literally give you the shirt off of his back if he thought it would help.  His ability to see and reach those in need around him was undeniable.  We will miss Mike more than he could ever know.  His sudden absence from our lives today leaves behind a void and pain which we can only hope and pray that time will heal.  Thank you, Mike, for reminding us to live each day as if it’s our last, because sadly for some of us, it just may be.  May the Lord grant you peace and mercy now as you begin your next journey and may the memories you leave behind help to comfort us all throughout the difficult days ahead while we wait patiently to see your larger-than-life smile once again.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nancy Pregler and Jim (Pat) Fondell; his great-grandmother, Olive Hilbert; and his uncles, James Pregler and Allan Fondell.

Mike’s family would like to thank the Epworth Fire Department, the Iowa Donor Network, along with the nurses and staff in the Finley ICU for all of their professional and compassionate care of Michael and his family.
