Michael T. “Mike” Carroll, age 89, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Luther Manor surrounded by his loving family.  To celebrate Mike’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Church, 1870 St. Ambrose Street.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday at the church.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Behr Funeral Home is assisting Mike’s family.

Mike was born on March 6, 1937, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Robert S. and Marion A. (Flanigan) Carroll.

Mike graduated from Lyons High School and earned his Associates Degree from Kirkwood College.  He honorably served his country with the US Army.  It was while Mike was stationed in Germany that he met the love of his life, Hannelore Then.  They married 3 times.  Once by German Authorities, once by the Army on the base in Schweinfurt, Germany on August 24,1957 and finally in 1963 when they returned to Dubuque, Iowa.  Mike was employed in management at Giese Roofing Company for several years, and with St. Anthony’s Church doing maintenance and cleaning. Mike retired in 1999 from Bodine Electric Company.  He was extremely active in the community at St. Anthony’s Church, with the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Dubuque Post 6, the V.F.W. and St. Vincent de Paul Society.  He was an incredible dancer and talented woodworker.  He built an additional story on to his home and made his own cleaning products.  Mike always made time for his family, and he loved his wife, children and extended family unconditionally. Mike was an avid animal lover and cared for many pets over the year.  He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marion Carroll; his loving wife, Hannelore Carroll; a daughter Maureen Carroll; a son, Robert Carroll; his siblings, Mary, Patricia and Robert; grandchildren and other extended relatives.

Mike’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Oak Park Place,  Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their kindness and care.
