Norma J. Heneke, 94, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Senior Star at Elmore Place in Davenport, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa.

Norma Jean Hinke was born on October 2, 1929 in Andrew, Iowa, to Walter and Birdeva (Lampe) Hinke.  She was a graduate of Welton High School.  She married Harlan E. Heneke on August 15, 1948 in DeWitt, Iowa.  Three children were born to this marriage, Robert, Ron, and Renee.

Prior to her marriage Norma worked as a typist for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company.  She then became a homemaker and farmed with her husband southeast of Delmar for over 62 years.

Norma was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, and at one time was a member of the Delmar Senior Citizen’s and the Bloomfield Township Homemaker’s.

Norma enjoyed flowers, feeding the birds, reading, and her special dog Mia.

Those left to honor her memory include children, Ron (Kathy) Heneke of Delmar, IA and Renee (Dave) Bodenschatz of Bettendorf, IA; 4 grandchildren, Erich Heneke, Alycia (Steve) Benischek, Nicole (Jacob) Kirby, and Blake (Noel) Bodenschatz; and 4 great-grandchildren, Hadley Karsjens, Ryan Heneke, Brinley Karsjens and Anna Kirby.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan Heneke on September 24, 2010, son Robert “Bob” Heneke on December 2, 2016, and sisters Lorraine Hinke, Darlene Ruth Jensen and Phyllis Ann Camiliere.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa.
