Pastor Jack W. Redmond
Pastor Jack W. Redmond, age 76, of Dubuque, IA, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Orlando, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Jack passed away while he and his beloved wife Peggy were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, a beautiful milestone in a lifetime of love and devotion. To honor Jack’s life, there will be a short memorial service on Saturday, October 17th from 12-12:45pm, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1-4pm at Tri-State Community Church, 12937 Derby Grange Road in Dubuque.
Jack was born on December 7, 1949, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Jack R. and Alice I. (Elliott) Redmond. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving two tours during the Vietnam War. Although he, like so many other Vietnam Veterans, did not receive the welcome home he deserved, he remained incredibly proud of his service to his country.
Upon returning home, Jack married his soulmate, Peggy A. Hirsch. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, raising six children of their own, as well as welcoming in two foreign exchange students who quickly grew to become family. Their fifty years of marriage were a beautiful example of commitment, perseverance, and the importance of keeping God at the center of their lives.
Jack’s greatest calling was serving the Lord. For more than 45 years, he faithfully served as a pastor, dedicating his life to sharing the Gospel and leading others to Jesus Christ. His faith was not something he simply preached on Sundays; it was something he lived every day. His Bible, worn and literally falling apart from years of reading and studying, was a reflection of his deep love for God’s Word.
Jack’s life verse was 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Those words perfectly described Jack’s life. Through challenges, difficult seasons, and health struggles, his faith remained steadfast. He believed that every person he encountered was an opportunity to share God’s love, offer encouragement, or simply make someone’s day a little brighter.
Jack had a genuine love for people and a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether meeting friends for breakfast, enjoying a game of cards, traveling, playing his guitar, singing, or occasionally breaking into a little yodeling, Jack found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Rarely would you find Jack without a piece of candy to share, a fancy pen in his pocket, or a joke to tell, but that was one of the things that made him so special. He never seemed to be in a hurry when it came to spending time with people. Above all else, Jack treasured his family. He loved having everyone together, sharing stories, laughing, and making memories. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the faith he faithfully shared.
