Patricia Ann “Pat” Ames, 87, of East Dubuque, IL, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 2:45 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Wesley Methodist Church in East Dubuque, where a celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Shinkle and Pastor Crystal Weber officiating. Burial will follow in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Pat was born on May 12, 1938 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Fleischman) Welu. On August 9, 1958, she was united in marriage to Edwin “Dewey” Ames at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque, IA. Dewey preceded her in death on October 21, 2006.

Pat was an active member of the Wesley Methodist Church in East Dubuque, enjoyed playing bridge, spending time with family playing games, fishing, camping, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Surviving are her children, Aleta (Jim) Hicks of Shellsburg, IA, David Ames of East Dubuque, IL, Beth (Terry) Boleyn of Dubuque, IA, and Kimberly (Kevin) Kelley of Hudson, IL; her grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Howard, Sam (Anna) Jackson, Ben (Chiara) Ahmann, Jake (Sarah) Kelley, Jeremy (Katie) Ames, Jessica (Craig) Hoskins, Kelsey Kelley, and Mike Ames, and “many beloved grandchildren by marriage & many great grandchildren”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marie Welu (Seippel), husband Dewey, and many other dearly missed family members.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to the Salvation Army.
