Patricia A. Shady
Patricia A. Shady, 81, of Cincinnati, Iowa, and formerly of the Maquoketa area, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at home.
Patricia Ann Bliss was born on April 15, 1942 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Melvin and Delores (Eckelberg) Bliss. She went to Bridgeport Country School through the 8th grade and then to the Andrew Schools where graduated. Shortly thereafter she married Rollie Schoenherr in 1961 until his death in 1984. On April 10, 1988, she married Ronald Dale Shady. She was a homemaker and helped at her son Randal’s restaurant, the Long Branch Tavern in Canton for many years. In 1994, they moved to northern Missouri for eight years and then moved to Cincinnati, Iowa until her passing.
Patricia loved to mow the lawn and did so until her health wouldn’t let her. She loved crocheting, vacationing, camping, fishing, and playing cards. She also enjoyed red roses and African violets, hummingbirds and watching country western music on television or in person.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 35 plus years, Ronald Shady of Cincinnati, IA; sister, Barbara Bliss of Marion, IA; children, Lucreca (Dennis Houston) Schoenherr of Maquoketa, IA, Lucinda (Rick) Turnis of Cascade, IA, Rodney Schoenherr of Maxwell, IA, Loretta Schoenherr of Houma, LA, Tonya (Allan) Waller of Bernard, IA, Sheila (Reggie) Gillis of Cedar Rapids, IA, Oscar Schoenherr of Monmouth, IA, Patricia Schoenherr of Centerville, IA, Dwight (Kathy) Schoenherr of Cascade, IA; daughters-in-law, Jennifer Schoenherr of Canton, IA; and Jill Yousse of Maquoketa, IA; step-children, Melissa (Steve) McColley of Warrenton, MO, Alice (Jonathan) David of Phenix City, AL, and Dale Shady Hoover of Marble Hill, MO; 18 grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Burneta Sales and Ruth Husted, both of Cincinnati, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Melvin, first husband Rollie, sister Mary Jean, children Valerie, Lynn, Rollie, and Randal, and two grandchildren Mitchell Houston and Anthony Schoenherr.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, September 15, 2023, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Patricia A. Shady memorial fund has been established.
