Patricia A. Weirup
Patricia A. “Pat” Weirup, 88, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at UnityPoint Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.
Patricia Ann Bock was born on July 31, 1937 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Milton William and Camilla Mae (Sanger) Bock. She grew up on a farm just north of Elwood and graduated from Elwood Class of 1954. On January 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Vernon Leo Weirup. They raised three beautiful children, Barbara, Randy, and Brenda.
Pat had worked at People’s Natural Gas, Fareway, and retired from KMAQ Radio Station in Maquoketa after 22 years.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, playing cards, marbles, or other games. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cross stitch, baking, cooking, and sewing. She and Vernon enjoyed traveling and saw much of the country including Alaska and Hawaii. They even braved a trip to Australia!
Pat is survived by her children: son Randy (Sue) Weirup of Maquoketa, IA, and daughter Brenda Lannom of Maquoketa, IA; sister Vera Barten of Maquoketa, IA; sister-in-law, Arla Lubben of Baldwin, IA; 5 grandchildren, Adam (Stephanie) Weirup of Key West, IA, Chad (Michelle) Weirup of Galena, IL, Chris (Kim) Weirup of Maquoketa, IA, Stephanie (Matt) Femrite of Des Moines, IA, and Kristen (Cal) Schreckengast of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and 9 nieces and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon on January 7, 2014, daughter Barbara Milburn on January 28, 2025, brother Wayne Bock, brothers-in-law John Lubben and Alvin Barten, and 3 nephews.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 12 P.M., Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, or the Jackson County Historical Society.
