Patricia Melin
Patricia “Patty” Melin, 58 Years, of Dubuque, died on Friday, March 1, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
A rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Crematory followed by visitation until 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Patty will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Father Tom McDermott as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery- Watertown, South Dakota.
Patricia was born June 30, 1965, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Sheridan “Frank” and Delores Czech Sousa. On April 21, 1990, she married Kipp Daniel Melin in Minneapolis, MN.
Patty graduated from Totino Grace High School in Fridley, MN in 1983. She then attended North Hennepin Community College where she obtained her Associates of Arts Degree. Patty worked as a Financial Analyst for Ameriprise. She also worked with the school lunch program for St. Augustine – Des Moines and Resurrection Catholic School – Dubuque and later as a paraprofessional for the Resurrection Preschool program.
Patty enjoyed taking nature walks, going to the casino, shopping, and playing board games with family (and she liked to win). She was very faithful and was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. As a part of her expression of faith, she enjoyed making rosaries. She loved helping children, it brought her such a sense of joy to have a helping hand in their lives. She was a mother first and foremost, keeping her own boys on the right track, showing them unwavering love and support in many ways, always making sure to attend all their events, and supported their interests, such as, boy scouts, band, and sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, Kipp of Dubuque; son, Tyler (Hannah) Melin of Davenport, son, Cory (Amber) Melin of Verona, WI, son, Noah Melin of Dubuque; grandson, Everett Melin; mother, Delores Sousa of New Hope, MN; brother, Tom (Toni) Sousa of Port Richey, FL; father-in-law, Dann Melin of Watertown, SD; sister-in-law, Kim Woodford of Watertown, SD; brother-in-law, Kraig (Deanna) Melin of Duluth, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother-in-law, Joni Melin, and brother-in-law, Rodney Woodford.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
