Raul S. Asencion

Raul Sayago Asencion age 42, of East Dubuque, IL, completed his earthly journey suddenly on March 1, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. To honor Raul’s life, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Raul’s family.

Raul was born on May 19, 1983, in Xalapa, Veracruz, MX, a son to Emiliano Sayago Gonzalez and Emilia Asencion Salazar. He took great pride in making the most of each opportunity which presented itself in life and he loved his family more than words could ever depict. Raul met the love of his life, Teresa Nauman, over ten years ago and they were united in marriage on May 5, 2018. Together their love blossomed as their family did as well. They were blessed with two beautiful children to love and adore…and that Raul did with expertise and determination. He spent his working years as an assistant kitchen manager at Texas Roadhouse in Dubuque and made many friends throughout his time there. He brought a great work ethic and desire for perfection to each day.

In his free-time, Raul enjoyed being in the outdoors as often as possible, and definitely with his family by his side. He never passed up the chance to squeeze a little camping or fishing into his busy week and always made sure to leave the hectic responsibilities of the world behind when it was time to relax and enjoy a good beer with his brother-in-law, Chris. Raul was also an accomplished soccer player, being a semi-professional at one point and continued the love for the game until the end. He treasured any time where a game could be played, a league could be attended, or even just sharing his knowledge and skills with the next generation who was interested. But for those who knew Raul best, his family was his greatest joy in his life. He considered being a father his greatest accomplishment of all and never neglected his ability to do so.

The world is truly a lesser place today without Raul walking among us. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, determination and unwavering love which we could all use a little extra of these days. May all who knew and loved him find healing in time, but for now, hopefully moments of peace here and there in the knowledge that the Lord has a plan for all of His children, and although we may not always understand the bigger picture, Raul leaves behind many lessons which can better our lives moving forward until we see him again. Thank you, Raul, for being the best husband, father, son, brother and friend  many of us could ever hope to have in our life, and may the Lord bless and keep you safe in His loving arms until we see your genuine smile once again.
