Richard “Rick” Roussel, 61, of Dubuque, died Thursday, March 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, March 25, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for Rick will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory with Deacon Dave Roth officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Richard was born December 8, 1962, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Raymond and Mary Lou Elliott Roussel. On October 14, 1983, he married Suzanne Boll in Dubuque.
He was a 1981 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.
Rick was a tow truck driver for McCann’s IOCO Service before working at Rainbo Oil Company as a warehouse manager for 31 years.
He cherished his 1971 Dodge Demon and enjoyed outings to Gary’s Graffiti Nights and various car shows. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and, following in his father’s footsteps, a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Music was a constant source of delight for him. He found joy in family card games and spent countless hours sitting on a bucket, catching softballs for his daughters. Rick’s dedication to his children was unwavering; He never missed a sporting event for his kids or grandson. In the summer, he loved sitting on his front porch.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; two daughters, Lindsay Roussel and Melissa (Derrick Kruser) Roussel, both of Dubuque; one grandson, his buddy for life, Cayden Rozinek, that he loved to play baseball with and enjoyed his sporting events; his siblings, Terry (Dawn) Roussel of Dubuque, Connie (Corey) Klein of Dubuque, Ron Roussel of Dubuque, Debbie Williams of California, and Pam (Mark) Jordan of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathy Roussel, his father- and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Donna Boll, brothers-in-law, Terry Williams, Joey Boll, and Billy Boll, and his Goddaughter, Chrissy Mohr.
Rick’s family expresses gratitude to his sister, Connie, for her devoted care, and to his best friend, Tom, for always being there.
